正式成立为2010年7月份。来自英国苏格兰的混血主唱simon，来自美国的鼓手papa，来自上海的摇滚吉他手misuzu，来自日本的贝斯手toshi组成。各个成员有不同的喜爱的风格。simon深爱初期的硬核，papa曾经就是funk的鼓手，misuzu陷入原摇滚乐的groove，toshi迷上90年代的车库朋克及初期朋克。各成员带来不同的背景和技术，把初期硬核的激情和车库朋克的原始冲动融合在一起做出自己的车库硬核的风格。 2011年3月份随着papa离开上海，加拿大鼓手tyler参加instigation。 The Instigation is Shanghai's only garage band who play hardcore songs. Or maybe Shanghai's only hardcore band who play garage songs. Hate them because they're British and Canadian. Love them because they're Japanese and Chinese. Either way they mix snotty early USHC fury with leather jackets and Converse. They like Dean Dirg, Teengenerate, Circle Jerks and cheap beers in front of convenience stores.not like we were ever doing it for anything besides cars, girls, and money"
