We are pleased to announce the Call for Abstracts for the XIII Symposium Platonicum: Plato’s Sophist. The Symposium will take place July 18–22, 2022, at the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia, USA. Submissions on any aspect of the dialogue, including its Presocratic sources and later reception, will be considered. While Analytic philosophers have tended to read the Sophist as a work on the philosophy of language and Continental philosophers have seen the dialogue as an account of Being, these valuable approaches do not exhaust the richness of this complex dialogue. We welcome submissions of high quality from these and all other perspectives. Only submissions from IPS members, full and associate, who are current on their dues for the 2019-2022 triennium will be considered. If you are not yet a member of the International Plato Society, criteria for membership and information about joining are available at: https://platosociety.org/membership/. Length Papers should be suitable for 20-minute presentations, but authors may be asked to expand their papers to be presented at one of the 40-minute plenary sessions. Your abstract should be written in any two of the Society’s five official languages (i.e. English, French, Italian, Spanish, and German). Each abstract should be around 800-1200 words (so 2400 words for the two abstracts). To ensure blind-review by the IPS Program Committee please remove any identifying information from the abstract and the file properties.
