(Hans Christian Andersen Award)

(Caldecott Medal)

(Kate Greenaway Medal)

The Nestlé Smarties Book Prize is an annual award given to children's books written in the previous year by a UK citizen or resident. The prize is administered by Booktrust, an independent charity which promotes books and reading. The prize is sponsored by Nestlé, manufacturer of Smarties.
since 1994, The Nestle Smarties Prize has been awarded by the Youth Libraries Group to the most outstanding book published in the UK. There are three age categories, 0-5, 6-8 and 9-11, and in each category there are three winners, Gold, Silver and Bronze. The books are judged by a panel of 5 adult judges who draw up a shortlist of three titles for each category. The winners are then chosen by young judges selected from 60 classes from schools all over the country. These judges have themselves won the Nestl?Smarties Prize competition to provide the most imaginative reviews of the shortlisted titles. The chosen schools judge the category relevant to their age. The three books in each category will now be judged by a panel of children. The gold medal winners are announced in November.
