当听到丁马王子(Prins Nitram)的首张专辑《Bomty Bomty!》后,不消片刻你就会清楚,自己面对的不是一个平常的独奏音乐家,那种感觉一半属于猫王(Elvis)式的老派摇滚,一半属于贝克(Beck)式的独立音乐。他怪异且神秘的贵族血统之中包含着热情洋溢同时又古灵精怪的音乐混合物质,在丁马王子的音乐里你可以轻松找到无伴奏合唱、摇滚乐、爵士乐、雷鬼乐、另类民谣以及复古流行歌等等内容,他本人将这种“丁马王子混搭风”册封为“Doo-wop旷课乐”,然而,这个够噱头的封号仅仅讲述了王子故事的一部分。

Upon hearing Prins Nitram’s debut album, Bomty Bomty!, it becomes quickly clear that you are not dealing with your average solo artist. Equal parts Elvis and Beck, His Royal Oddness employs a tropical mix of barbershop, rock ‘n’ roll, jazz, reggae, quirky folk and good-old-fashioned-singalong pop, a combination he has dubbed ‘Doo-wop crunk’, an evocative name that tells only part of the story.
As a child, the man also known as Martin Dahl was told, sometime around bedtime, that his family had royal blood; that they didn’t live in a castle, said Momma Dahl, was an effort at modesty to keep the family free of the envy of the rest of the world. “I remember the power the story gave me,” Martin recalled, and he kept the secret until it was time to name his solo project. “Prins”: ‘prince’; “Nitram”: ‘Martin’.
Live, the Prince brings the concept of a one-man band to a new level. Playing along with videos of Himself, the concept is certainly befitting a member of a royal family, but its execution is in keeping with the modesty of a prince not too eager to broadcast his massive wealth – musical or financial. In the multi-dimensional audio-visual extravaganza that is a Prins Nitram live set, zombies, angels, and Prinses fight, play, dance, perform and more in an Experience that has to be seen to be believed.
In spite of his habit of performing as a one-man band and playing almost all instruments himself – sometimes several at once – there is room enough on Prins Nitram’s debut album for some other great musicians: Thomas Blachman (Page One), and British producer and Gorillaz bassist Al Mobbs. The combined effect is the creation of a fantastic richness of detail in the musical underscoring of all ten numbers.
