With origins as a high school band, Suspicious Figure has always been a band of songwriters. Every member contributes to the creative process, allowing the expression of multiple perspectives. We found our voice performing at small venues in Raleigh, NC and have recently shifted our focus to recording. After diligently working to release our first album, Natural Causes, we are maintaining the momentum for our follow-up album.
Natural Causes was recorded with borrowed equipment in the murky basement of a rental house in Raleigh where we played to the accompaniment of a cricket. Engineer Chris Wimberley of Nightsound Studios in Carrboro mixed and mastered the album.
On Natural Causes, songs marked by passionate anger are interspersed among songs that reveal a bitter vulnerability. The sound is often reminiscent of 70s pop rock, while tracks like "Bring Me Down" and "The Last Lie" have a heavier lean. With a budget exclusively conducive to low-fi recording, Natural Causes serves as the jumping-off point for Suspicious Figure's prospective discography.
